Robert is the only one left in his family, apart from one sister who lives in Idaho. After his house was foreclosed on, Andrew had to pawn quite a few things that he owned just to be able to buy food. After he found new housing, SNAP helped Robert to adequately feed himself. When he wasn’t able to find work, Robert had no other option to but to apply for SNAP.
Now that he’s working, Robert no longer uses SNAP benefits. He recalls having great experiences with the program overall; it helped him get back on his feet after a particularly rough time in his life. “I just worked my way from the bottom slowly to the top, you know, just like everyone else.”
